AJ Woods PLLC was founded on a shared belief that organizations doing meaningful work deserve thoughtful, reliable financial partnership.
We met early in our careers and grew alongside each other within the same healthcare system, building experience across accounting, finance, and operations. Over nearly two decades, we saw firsthand how strong financial foundations—and the right support—can bring clarity, reduce stress, and help organizations move forward with confidence.
We also saw the opposite. Too often, nonprofit and mission-driven organizations were left without the level of financial guidance they truly needed—especially support that was both strategic and detail-oriented.
AJ Woods PLLC was created to bring both together.
Our name reflects our partnership—Aisha Jamal and Michelle Woods—and the balance we bring to our work. Together, we pair big-picture thinking with deep attention to detail, offering a steady, trusted presence across our clients’ financial operations.

Aisha Jamal, cpa, mba
I bring more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across healthcare, governance, finance, and operations. My work has focused on supporting complex, mission-driven organizations. I’ve worked closely with boards and leadership teams to strengthen financial infrastructure, navigate complexity, and build the foundation for long-term stability and growth.
Much of my work has been in environments where the stakes are high and resources are limited. I understand the demands placed on leaders and the importance of having a trusted financial partner who brings both clarity and steady perspective.
Through AJ Woods PLLC, I partner with nonprofit and purpose-driven organizations to provide strategic financial guidance, operational insight, and practical support. My approach is grounded, thoughtful, and focused on helping leaders make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.
I hold a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston and am a licensed CPA, bringing both technical expertise and real-world leadership experience to the organizations I serve.
Michelle woods, cpa, mba
I bring nearly 20 years of experience in accounting and finance within one of the nation’s leading pediatric healthcare systems. My work has spanned core accounting functions, financial analysis, and managed care environments, including Medicaid. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how financial data supports day-to-day operations and long-term decision-making.
I’m deeply detail-oriented and focused on the integrity of the numbers—ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity across financial reporting. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked across accounting and finance roles that required both precision and insight, allowing me to not only produce reliable financials but also support meaningful analysis behind them.
My work centers on accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls, helping organizations build strong financial foundations and better understand their financial position with confidence and consistency.
